Optus sets new milestone with the commitment to expand its mobile network coverage to 98 per cent of Australia
At least 750 new base stations will be added, extending Optus’ mobile network coverage by 400,000 square kilometres to a total network coverage of more than one million square kilometres.
This significant expansion of the Optus network will be achieved using 900 Megahertz (MHz) spectrum, utilising High Speed Packet Access (HSPA) wireless broadband technology. In addition to the Eastern States, the network will extend the footprint throughout remote areas of Western Australia, South Australia, Northern Territory and Tasmania.
Daly International has been appointed by Optus to provide network deployment services for in excess of 365 of the new base station sites spread vastly across Australia. The scope includes the provision of all engineering and design services, light of sight surveying, land survey and geotechnical services, site identification and acquisition, and environmental approvals.
Daly International has been working with Optus’ Network team for a number of years in providing network deployment services.
